Striking The Cliff

Before taking flight, there’s the preflight to ensure the wings are ready to work. Then comes the run-up, making sure that there’s enough energy pointed in the right direction—all before takeoff.

While doing the takeoff first might seem more thrilling, there are drawbacks to sorting out the wing and direction afterward.

When it comes to folding wings, my preference leans toward an inflated wing, gracefully flying overhead before the leap — a clever compromise.
