Take A Trip and Never Leave The Farm

Take A Trip and Never Leave The Farm

-Night Blooming Jasmine: Could it be a Night Blooming Wildflower Weed?

Waking up today felt a tad peculiar:

  • Time seemed to drift lazily.
  • Moving objects glided effortlessly.
  • I sensed a dizzying dance of changing perspectives and depths.
  • Walking straight demanded focused attention.
  • My mind wandered aimlessly.

The twist? My pardner experienced a touch of vertigo too! Strangely, we hadn’t shared a meal or anything else the day before, except for inhaling the intense fragrance of Night Blooming Jasmine.

This bush stands right by my bedroom window. It flaunts more blooms than leaves, and its fragrance is so potent you can almost taste its sweetness. Last night, it unleashed the most concentrated, intense scent I’ve ever encountered from a plant.

After a bit of digging, I learned that Night Blooming Jasmine is psychotropic. No stroke. No food poisoning. I was floating on cloud nine!

The effects linger, making things a bit wobbly, but I can manage to walk straight. And perhaps that’s why my delete key isn’t cooperating. I’ve been tapping it all morning, but it refuses to erase like it used to.

The upside was delightful, whimsical, and entertaining. For a moment, I felt a kinship with the singer’s lyrics.

Just a pair of retirees relishing their time in the Florida garden, grinning while observing the bees, and pondering if their eyes were playing tricks!

Yet, there’s a downside that lingers four times as long. And tumbling out of that windmill is a genuine risk.

It begins as the slow-motion vertigo gives way to snap mode. Suddenly, body movements happen instantly, effortlessly. I’d decide to stand. Snap, I’d be up in an instant.

It was so convincing that I asked my pardner what was going on. Nope, I wasn’t a young time traveler zipping through space. Just the same old man, rising the same old way.

Soon after came a dreadful mix akin to drunkenness and motion sickness, multiplied by two.

Night Blooming Jasmine may have a charming scent. But the pleasant, whimsical, and intriguing upside isn’t worth the dreadful downside.

Those bedroom windows will be firmly shut tonight.

Cheers, D 🌴🌊
