Umbrella Tree

Guess what’s adding a burst of beauty to South Florida right now?
The Umbrella Tree!
- Originally from Australia, Java, and New Guinea
- Can grow up to an impressive 50 feet
- Boasts gorgeous deep green palmate leaves
- Sports large, tentacle-like appendages adorned with hundreds of crimson red blooms
- Thankfully, not bothered much by pests
- A favorite among our buzzing friends, the bees
- Handles poor soil, heat, and drought like a champ
In simple terms, it’s the perfect plant for our sunny South Florida.
This unique character brings an exotic and tropical vibe to our landscaping. Just a heads up, though—it can get a bit invasive in certain situations.
We’ve got one of these Umbrella Trees popping up on our undeveloped lot. Initially, I had no idea what it was. With its exotic appearance, I thought it might be some tropical fruit tree. Now that I know better, it’s a delightful addition to our green space.
Cheers to the wonders of nature!
